The Liberal Democrat Group on Sheffield City Council have picked their team to run the Council and deliver change after their stunning local elections victory. They will be formally put into position at the Council's AGM on May 21st. Lib Dems have re-elected their group leader Paul Scriven, who is now set to become the Council leader.

Lib Dems have also elected their previous Shadow Cabinet to become the new Cabinet team, plus one extra person to fill an additional Cabinet post.

Lib Dems have signalled their new priorities for running the Council by making wholesale changes to the previous Labour set-up. The new team will be charged with delivering on the Lib Dems five key local election pledges.

The new team have pledge to radically change the way the Council operates by listening to local people and moving power away from the Town Hall to communities, so that local people can influence the decisions that affect them.

Councillor Paul Scriven, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group, said: -

"I am absolutely delighted with the Liberal Democrat team that will be charged with the task of delivering change for Sheffield. We will be working to make good on the manifesto commitments that local people overwhelmingly voted for at the local elections."

"Some things we will be able to do fairly quickly, others will take longer. However, over the coming years we are committed to working with local people to deliver change for the better in Sheffield."

"We want to change the way the whole Council operates. Instead of dictating from the Town Hall, we want to listen to local people and let them be at the heart of decisions affecting their community."
