Local Liberal Democrats have attended a rally held in Sheffield city centre to show solidarity with the people of Burma. The rally called on the military junta in the country to restore democracy to the people of Burma who have been subjected to the brutal regimes crackdown since pro-democracy protests began.

Lib Dems believe that everyone should be entitled to human rights, democracy and freedom no matter where they live on the planet. They have called on the international community to do all it can to put an end to the self-imposed military regime. Sheffield has a large community of Burmese refugees and local Lib Dems where delighted to support them in their call to restore democracy in their homeland.
