Sheffield has lost in the bid to host a super-casino

Local Liberal Democrats have reacted to the news that Manchester will be the venue for the planned Las Vegas style super-casnio. Cllr Paul Scriven, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group, said: - "Although Sheffield has lost out on this occasion it's likely that the Government will approve more super-casinos in the not too distant future. We still believe that before any such development goes ahead in Sheffield we should hold a referendum on the issue to give local people a say"

"Sheffield's regeneration does not depend on this decision. The council must look to support small to medium sized businesses and emerging markets so that Sheffield can reach its full potential through creating quality jobs and new enterprise"
