World Environment Day - Help the Planet

Today is the United Nations's World Environment Day. To coincide the Liberal Democrats are calling on individuals to promise to do their bit and sign up to one of the Environment Agency's pledges, and encourage friends and colleagues to do the same.

Councillor Simon Clement-Jones, Liberal Democrat Shadow Cabinet member for Sustainable Environment, said: -

"Small actions can make a big difference and help to make our environment more sustainable"

"Small things like turning the tap off when brushing your teeth and using rechargeable batteries instead of disposable ones can make a big difference if everyone pitches in and does their bit"

"Its important that we all realise climate change cannot be tackled unless people are willing to make changes to their lifestyle. I encourage as many people as possible in Sheffield to go ahead and promise the earth for World Environment Day"
