Liberal Democrats - Delivering for Sheffield

Sheffield Lib Dems

Since local people voted the Liberal Democrats into power at the Town Hall in 2008 we have been getting on with the job of delivering for Sheffield. There has been action to cut crime through more uniformed officers on the beat. Green action, including free recycling for green waste and protecting our parks. Cleaner Streets through giving local people control over street cleaning budgets. A fair deal through bringing Labour's 'favoured areas' policy to an end. Also we have started to deliver value for money and set Sheffield's lowest ever Council Tax increase.

In 2010 and beyond Liberal Democrats will continue to work towards improving your local Council so that everyone in Sheffield can see the benefit. We really are committed to making sure Sheffield is a place where everyone matters.

Councillor Paul Scriven, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on Sheffield City Council.

Quotes of the Week

"Anyone who wants to pass laws in this country should pay this country's full taxes and not hide behind the special offshore status of non-doms. Non-doms have to tell the taxman that their first allegiance is to another country. No-one should be a British lawmaker whose first allegiance is not to Britain."

Chris Huhne, Liberal Democrat Shadow Home Secretary

"I think people are entitled to expect a sensible, stable government at a time when the country is facing very, very acute choices. We take what the markets are worrying about immensely seriously. We will not take any risk with the creditworthiness of the economy."

Nick Clegg, Leader of the Liberal Democrats
