Local Councillors

Walkley has one Lib Dem councillor. You can learn more about her below:

Name: Cllr Diane Leek

Years as councillor: 17                     Term Ends: May 2012

Bio: Diane Leek, a true Sheffielder, was first elected as a councillor in a sensational by-election in 1993. However, a technicality meant the election had to be re-run and Diane, the local dinner lady, was returned with a thumping majority. After almost two decades of service Diane is well loved locally and is known for fighting to improve, playgrounds and pedestrian crossings across the ward as well as saving Walkley library. Diane is a member of Friends of Ruskin Park, Walkley Recreational Trust and Sheffield Wednesday Community Trust. She is also a Governor at Walkley Primary and Forge Valley Community schools. In 2003, Diane also served as Lord Mayor of Sheffield. She was the first female Liberal Democrat to hold the post.
