Local Councillors

East Ecclesfield has one Lib Dem city councillor. You can learn more about him below:

Name: Cllr Colin Taylor

Years as councillor: 2                     Term Ends: May 2012

Bio: Colin Taylor has lived in East Ecclesfield for nearly 25 years. He first became involved in local politics in 1995, joining the campaign against Labour’s plan to close Chapeltown Baths. Since then he’s been involved with many local groups including Friends of Chapeltown Park, Chapeltown in Bloom, Chapeltown Baths Board and Ecclesfield Conservation Group. He was elected as a councillor for East Ecclesfield in a bye-election in 2009. As a strong local campaigner he has fought to get new playground equipment in Chapeltown Park, and a new crossing outside Ecclesfield Comprehensive. In his spare time he enjoys supporting Blackburn Rovers and running marathons – although no-one is sure which is more painful! Recently Colin raised over £1,000 for Diabetes UK by running the Great North Run.
