Bring Back Sheffield Victoria

High Speed Rail is coming to Sheffield!

…But where in Sheffield we don’t yet know.

It’s understood that the location for the new High Speed station could be within Sheffield City Centre or as far out as Rotherham.

Sheffield’s Liberal Democrats have launched a campaign for a new high speed rail station at the old Sheffield Victoria Station site. The old Victoria Station was on the Great Central Railway from London to Manchester but shut in 1970.

We believe that a new station at the old Victoria site would regenerate the surrounding area and maximise economic benefits through being located in the City Centre. The move is being backed by local businesses in the City Centre location.

Ellie Bennett, Operations manager at the nearby Wicker Chemist, has said: “I think this is a great idea both for the Wicker area and for Sheffield as a whole. We have to plan for the future to ensure the city centre will thrive in the years to come, and a high speed rail link would bring business and prosperity to Sheffield people.”

If you run a local business and would like to join the campaign – why not get in touch?
