Hi Jon - thanks for your comment.

Lib Dems support genuine measures to help parking enforcement but we have some real concerns about the effectiveness of these 'spy cars'.

In one London borough alone these spy cars handed out a total of 18,000 fines incorrectly! We think the aim of this proposal is to make money not to improve our roads.

In Stocksbridge (and presumably many other outlying areas around Sheffield) we have literally no traffic regulation enforcement at all. People park every day for months and years in the same spot on double yellow lines and I have never heard of anyone receiving a ticket or warning.

If the city council are unable to spare any traffic wardens for Stocksbridge these cars may be the answer, but if the Lib Dems are fighting "successfully" against them, maybe you could spend some time fighting for the occasional visit by a traffic warden?

Hi Paul - thanks for your comment.

Lib Dems have always supported sustainable transport initiatives and we're pleased to see the Coalition investing money in sustainable transports project around Sheffield. However, we fear that these 'spy cars' are driven by the desire to make money and not to improve our roads. We're also concerned about the effectiveness of these devices - in one London borough alone these spy cars handed out a total of 18,000 fines incorrectly!

As for recycling, we are fully opposed to Labour's planned cuts to key recycling services - you can sign the petition on the campaigns section of the website.

I understand the clamour to not appear to be anti-car, but please spare a thought for those of us who cycle, walk or take public transport. Keeping traffic moving and the streets safe benefits us all.

Against boosting recycling and sustainable transport initiatives? I thought Lib Dems prided themselves on being green?

Thanks for your comment Nick.

A consultation carried out by the Council found that 91% of Sheffielders are happy with the currently weekly service. It's also estimated that Sheffield would recieve around £2.5m if we kept the current service, so we wouldnt save any money next year if we did move to a fortnightly service.

All these things considered, Lib Dems believe that we should keep the weekly bin service. Labour have delayed any decison on the issue, you can read more about it here: -
